Aprasa dance – a symbol of Cambodian culture

Aprasa, a centerpiece of Cambodia’s culture and heritage, is something that should never be missed. Coming back to the 7th century, it originated from Cambodia’s Hindu and Buddhist mythology. The main traits of the dance are the hand gestures, and there are more than 1,500. There is a symbolic meaning underlying each movement of the fingers, from worshiping the spirits of nature by depicting a flower in bloom to referencing one of the hundreds of Buddhist and Hindu legends.
