The Mekong Delta, a network of large rivers and canals lined with water palms, is a vast and fertile stretch of wetlands. Thanks to sediments carried by the powerful River of Nine Dragons (named after its nine arms), it produces enough rice to feed the whole country. 1. Discovering a floating market on a small boat

This is a must in the Mekong Delta, hop on a boat at dawn and join the hustle and bustle of the traders on the water.

2. Cycling in the rice paddies

This is the best way to explore these wetlands, take a bike ride in the rice paddies or under the coconut trees shade and enjoy the peace and quiet of this little paradise. 

3. Rowing boat in the arroyos

Another essential, avoid the biggest arms of the Mekong and hop on a small boat and let the rower guide you through the small channels.

4. Visiting pagodas, temple and ancient houses  

Enough of rice paddies and coconut trees? There are lots of pagodas and temples around!

5. Healthy eating

The Mekong Delta is an important agricultural area with plenty of fishermen. Needless to say that one can feast on exotic fruits, vegetables and fish in these lands.
