If you’re curious about the wetlands of the Mekong Delta, come visit Tra Su Cajuput Forest. It is 25km southwest of Chau Doc and 75km from Long Xuyen city. This forest is an ecosystem of freshwater marshes where cajuputi shelter in their roots many fish, crustaceans and shells. It is also the habitat of many colonies of water birds, bats, reptiles and endangered species, in total 140 animal species. This ecotourism site turns green with water ferns during the rainy season (September to November). To explore the forest, hop on a boat and listen to the peaceful sounds of oars on the water and birdsongs. Don’t forget to get to the top of the watch tower to have an overlooking view of the forest. Get there in time for sunset. Thanks to its biodiversity, Tra Su offers not only enjoyable walks for nature lovers but also a good opportunity for zoology enthusiasts to conduct studies or simply watch the birds.
